The Government and Department of Education are encouraging you to keep your child at home from Tuesday 24 March

Schools remain open

The health advice on schools remains unchanged.  Our Chief Medical Officers indicate that our schools should remain open for education provision at this time.

The Government and Department are encouraging you to keep your child at home from Tuesday 24 March to contribute to supporting the community response to COVID-19. The school’s doors will remain open for those students whose parents are in the essential services or who are vulnerable.

As updated expert information comes to the Department, who are in constant liaison with NSW Health we will keep you informed of any impact on school operations.

Supporting continuity of learning for all students

Our staff have been working hard to develop a suite of learning resources and options for students to undertake from home. The Department has developed and will continue to develop resources and offer professional learning to help teachers with this task.

Whether your child is at school or at home, the aim is for all students to access the consistent learning content provided by our school. This may mean sending work home, either with physical materials or by email, or by making use of one of our online platforms at our school.

Teachers are currently working on designing units of work across Key Learning Areas. The units will be accompanied by a weekly timetable which you are encouraged to discuss with your child, emphasising the importance of learning from home. Parents are also encouraged to monitor the progress of their child’s recommended study pattern ensuring that it is closely adhered too. Teachers will be available by telephone to offer advice and support once the materials have been made available. It is envisaged that the materials will be available by the end of this week. In the interim, I encourage you to continue accessing the Learning from Home resource which provides practical advice to parents and carers on how to best create and support a productive learning environment in the home. In addition, please continue to access the online subscriptions i.e. Phonics Hero (K-2), Maths Seeds (K-2), Literacy Planet (K-6), Maths Space (3-6) and Typing Tournament (2-6).

Please note our school canteen will be closed from today, Tuesday 24 March 2020 until further notice. Children who do not have lunch will be provided with a toasted cheese sandwich.

Please ensure you all follow the recommended guidelines provided by the NSW Health Department by social distancing and avoiding crowed venues such as shopping centres where possible. It is important that we all remain safe during these uncertain times.

If you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact the school or visit the school’s website and platforms like Parent Sentral and Seesaw for regular updates. We will also be sending emails so please make sure we have your family email address. If you get a notification that an email has been sent and you can’t find in your Inbox, please look in the junk folder.

Kind regards

Jon Godwin
